I was reading a thread that Jim McShane was talking about using 12at7's in place of 12ax7 in a Prima Luna amp. They were discussing lowering the gain and affecting the negative feedback.
What my question is in regards to: I am using my Jolida 502 as and amp. Using a 6cg7 Aikido preamp. I really like the sound but I have more gain than I would like and was thinking of using 12au7 or 12bh7 as the input to the 502. I really like the 6cg7 but I'm not sure where to start with the math for the resistors needed? I was going to copy the Forewatt SRPP input. Would I need to decrease the negative feedback resistor value to increase the NF if I reduce the gain with a 12au7? Thanks for any help you can provide.
