Default New to Tubes? How to get the basics, read on..

Hi,

Where to get the basic knowledge in a form that doesn't require that you hold a certificate to be a brain surgeon?
There are books enough floating the web but they are generally a bit specialized with not much catering for the person with some general knowledge about electronics but none about tubes.
To have the basics explained with diagrams, pictures and a held in language that is understandable to anyone backed with maths even a 3rd. grader will comprehend isn't found in a lot of places.
Well, the NAVY put together a Training Series for Electricity and Electronics and here is the link to download Module-6, Introduction to Electronic Emission, Tubes and Power Supplies:

Enjoy,

You're just wasting bandwidth by reposting links that already have a sticky in this forum.

Thanks Alain, I went there years ago and I still do.
John's articles are very, very good.
I recently asked him to do an article on the Philips EEP1 Secondary Emission Tube.
An interesting little beast to say the least.
He hasn't, so it's probably not interesting enough

I was actually posting for the benefit of others.

OK, I get your point but consider this:

Most of what goes on here is very interesting but hard to understand for the newbe. To go where you say and look through 160 postings isn't what a complete beginner will do and even if he did, what's there to tell him what's good for him in his situation of being an absolute starter?
I just gave him a precise pointer where to get started.
Perhaps you may consider the positive in that.

Great! Dig your own hole even deeper. Over the years I have watched so many newbies post a question that got a lukewarm, sometimes even misguided response. The reason for this: it was a commonly asked question that knowledgable people are tired of answering. Meanwhile, simple use of the "search" button would have gotten them detailed and comprehensive responses in some of the better threads from the past.
