Default How can I use these high-current, low-inductance chokes?

Once again, I've gone to an estate sale and come home with many large boxes of vintage electronic components (much to my wife's dismay).

In addition to tubes, power transformers, and blank chassis, this purchase yielded a large selection of chokes. Most of the chokes are different than those I'd typically use for a power supply. For example, there are several Stancor C-2685 chokes, rated at 2 amps DC, but only 35 milliHenrys. Is there a good use for chokes like these in tube amps?

The only uses which seem even remotely plausible are as filters for filament supplies, or perhaps as some sort of inrush current limiter for a power transformer. Anyone have experience with applications for these high-current chokes? Thanks in advance.

Should work quite well for CLC filter in filament supplies or you could put them on swap as there are people here who would definitely be interested.

I'd bet the previous owner was not into building audio amps. These chokes could maybe have been use a plate loads in an oscillator or radio transmitter but not if they have a laminate steel core. If they look like 60Hz chokes then they might have been used in a KW class power supply, again for a radio frequency amp. "kilowatt" size tube amps are not uncommon in ham radio.

No, not really. They would be useful as parafeed chokes for a MOSFET power amp, however (although they are a bit low in inductance for that if you aren't willing to sacrifice a bit of low end performance).

That's about it for hollow state applications, but there are lots better ways to get DC heater power for DH finals. You could either use 'em for a solid state project, or use 'em as trading fodder to get more suitable chokes for hollow state designs.

If they are low DCR they might be usable in a choke filtered SS amp.
