Default 6SL7/6V6 tubes in an RH84 SE amplifier?

Hello y'all!

Has any one ever attempted to build Alex's RH84 SE amplifier, using a 6SL7 tube and a pair of 6V6 tubes?
I completed a 'standard' RH84 SE amplifier last week, and despite using bargain-basement components (Mallory 150's as coupling caps and a pair of small Edcor XSE 10 watt OPT's).....it came out sounding fabulous!
I'm gonna try to build a second RH84 SE amp with upgraded parts.
But I'd rather NOT build the exact same amplifier, if you know what I mean?
So any suggestions and/or alternate ideas would be GREATLY appreciated!

THANKS!!
Steve

Thanks, TG!
The schematic at the diytube thread needs to be updated with the info in the thread messages...nothing major, a couple of resistor changes....

I've attached (my) edited schematic here.

Awfully nice of you VictoriaGuy to post that updated schematic.
Now I can pry open my wallet, order some parts and get to work!

Thanks people!

I ordered the parts this morning (Tube Depot), only to find out that the 1.5K DALE resistors and Xicon caps have been back-ordered......figures.
Doesn't matter too much anyway, as it will take a good 4-6 weeks for the EDCOR transformers to arrive.
I'm still trying to decide on a 6 volt rectifier tube though?
The EDCOR power transformer is overkill for sure (300-0-300, 250ma), and I ordered it with only a single 6V/4A filament winding.
I'm kind of leaning toward using a 6CA4/EZ81 tube?
1) I have quite a number of NOS GE, RCA, & RFT 6CA4/EZ81 tubes at home.
2) I have a 6.3V CT/1.2A filament transformer, that I would use solely for that rectifier.
I was also thinking about using the more obscure 6BY5G tube as a rectifier, but having no experience with that tube, am really having second thoughts on *that choice?
*Great looking coke bottle tube though, isn't it?

6AX5 fits fine, and it's pretty cheap too.
But 6CA4/EZ81 is also a nice choice.

I'm gonna go with the 6AX5GT rectifier tube.
That will give this amplifier, an all-Octal tube line-up.
