Are there any type 26 driver SE (45, 2A3 or 300B) power amps? The only way I find the 26 used is in a line amp.

Hi!
I built a 26 / 35 amp, see links below. Actually the driver can be configured for either 26 or 10Y type tubes. Output is switchable between 45 and 2A3 VinylSavor: Making of an 45 / 2A3 amplifier The PSU: VinylSavor: Making of a 45 / 2A3 amplifier, Part 2 - The PSU Best regards Thomas

My main amp is a 27 driving a 71A, direct coupled. Sound is probably very similar to a 26 / 45 amp, which is to say magnificent! So I say go for it.

You not only help to get me out of trouble, you help to get me into trouble as well. The information you've listed is over a hundred pages of serious reading. If the participants could only come to a conclusion as to what is best, I wouldn't have so many decisions to make. I see you have your own plans to work on. Thanks to everyone for the inputs. Frank |

Heck I'd love to see the schematic on the 27/45 There are many talented people on this forum maybe someone will draw up something for the 26/45 quest. |

Hi!
Quote:
For a 45 a 27 or 26 will not provide enough gain to reach the usual sensitivities. Either a preamp with enough gain is required or a input transformer with step up. Check out the schematic of my 46 amp: VinylSavor: Single Ended Amplifier Concept, Part 7 Can be adapted for 45 as output tube. A 27 would fit in nicely, but note my remarks about gain above. Best regards ... Thomas
