Default Sanity of compactron for "integrated" headphone amp?

Im thinking about using double triode single pentode compactrons as an literally two tube headphone amp, they are rated at up to 300v b+ so ss rectified direct from wall, and a pair of 2w+ rated output transformers and I have an extremely low profile tube headphone amp?

No no no no no. Frankly, I just don't see how this continually gets missed by newbies.

Ok, so I'll find a small transformer, part of why I was asking about it as I wasnt sure if that was ok. Was thinking about using a voltage doubler. They kind of seem intended for line voltage at design intended voltage of 125v. Of course I wasnt going to omit fuses etc tho but ill have to see if I can find out why the concept is so bad, is it to increase rejection of line noise?

It's not about noise, it's about safety. If you are using or working on a device that is not galvanically isolated from the mains in some manner, such as a transformer, your body can become the pathway for the full energy of the mains circuit to get to ground.

Ah so more so worried about the chassis, at least a 1:1 transformer shouldn't be hard to acquire anyway. I got a spare 400va transformer from my main amp but it is way overkill for what I need, in addition to being 400v

Any how, any acoustic reason to have physical separation between the pre/driver and the output tubes?

I assumed the output transformers would protect that, but Its better safe then sorry, enough tho on isolation . I'm definitely using a transformer

You're trying to protect the user from being electrocuted. You're not trying to protect the speakers. That's why the OPT won't help you. Fuses won't help you either.

At the least have a 1:1 isolation transformer in place. They're not that expensive.
