I have an old Fisher X100C, that I would like to hook up 2 pair of 8 ohm speakers to. Does anyone know if there would be a problem doing that? Would it suck a lot of power? Would I hook them up to the 4 ohm post?
Thanks, Mark |

Give it a try - those old Fishers were tough beasts.
Yes, hook them to the 4 ohm posts.

What affect would it have on the power? Does the fact that you are hooking them up via the 4 ohm terminals double the power or??
Thanks, Mark |

No, that's more of a solid state thing. And has more to do with Ohm's law than actual power.
But you are going to get a 3db (a doubling) efficiency due to having twice as many speakers...

Thanks, I hooked them up and it is working well. I do believe it requires more power but not a lot more for about the same volume.
Thanks again! |
