There are hundreds (if not thousands) of electronics books available on-line in pdf format.
Check out your local Thrift Stores.
Every once in a while they will get an old tube Console Stereo system and let it go for cheap ($20). Magnavox is the cats meow. Just be sure you can look through the back vents and see tubes as there were also Solid State Console Stereo systems sold in the 70s.
Another possibility is an old tube TV (real wood cabinet) set from the same source. These sometimes go for as little as $5. Again, check through the back vents to verify that it is populated with tubes and not solid state.
Some of us here began by scrounging old TV sets or recovering them from the dump and disassembling them for parts.
