Default SE driver

A quick question...
Would the even harmonics generated by the driver tube cancel out in the secondary of the IT or continue on to the finals? See schematic.

All what driver generates goes to the output tubes, since it is a SE-stage. Even harmonics generated by output tubes cancel out at OPT since it is a PP-stage.

It depends on selected tube, it's idle current, and plate load resistance. See plate curves and load line. If you manage to get symmetric transfer curve even harmonics would be canceled.

+1

both arto and wavebourn would be right as always...

I doubt if any cancellation would occur at the IT...

However the distortion spectra of the finals/OPT can be tailored to cancel out the distortion spectra of the driver tube as Wavebourn said....

I said if the driver tube is biased and loaded such a way the stage has symmetric transfer curve, ...

ok. got it.

I think I got mixed up with one of the other threads where they tried to match out of phase the distortion spectra of the finals stage to that of the driver stage so that it would cancel...
