Hello All,
Has anyone ever A-B'd a vintage Dynaco output transformer against a Triode clone? I have one vintage A470 from an ST70. I was wondering if I should wait to find another or if it could be paired with a Triode clone? Kevin |

A while back I built up two dynacos with everything the same except for the output transformers. One amplifier had all Triode transformers and the other had stock Dynaco each amplifier drove two speakers in my system and I couldn't tell any difference between them.
I also had a dynaco with output transformers that weren't the so called best ones. These were newer and had the up to date insulation on the wiring. I believe they were made over seas. I thought they sounded better than the 470s did. If it were me I would sell the lone wolf and purchase two identical transformers and go with them. |
