Hi All
I have a question about the output transformer input impedance. I have an old Philips EL3527 Tape recorder. I have removed the o/p transformer and measured primary impedance and secondary was loaded with an eight ohm resistor. The impedance curve and the data are attached. Can I consider the impedance of this transformer as 11kOhm (at 1kHz) or 2.2kOhm (at 50 Hz). Please help. Renjish |

You can consider it as 11k, with an LF limit of around 300Hz. However, given its age, it is more likely to be intended for a 3-4ohm load, so 4-5.5K down to 120-150Hz. This is a better fit with the ECL82 output valve, and the likely frequency response.
