HY69 in triode mode...some experience ?

I currently do experiments with forgotten tubes.
Types as 12W6, 7A5, 7B5, 12EN6 are very interesting ...
I have some HY69 and thought that would be very nice in SE, triode mode.
Anyone have experience with these tubes in triode mode, SE class A ?
I believe it should sound good, because they are DHP ...

hey-Hey!!!,
No triode experience...why bother? use that screen grid. Type HY69 is a good one; though you'll want some EL84/6V6 outputs. Run about 20% for the U-L tap, the tube parameters just like it. I tried 30, 40 and 50% U-L rigging and 20% won out...I figured after the 50% was just too much so why bother? One ov my favourite valves indeed.

I prefer the triode mode...see my 3C24 amplifier in youtube...
Find "aldovanr" in youtube.
But I will make experiences in UL mode, too.

Don't need much power, so UL would be a bit too much?

hey-Hey!!!,
I got 6W from a pair. 330V B+, 10k a-a at 50% U-L. Increased to 9W on the 30% tap...hardly too much, and all this absolutely Class A. Got new OPT( same bobbin and core) with 20, 30 and 40% U-L taps and liked 20% even better.

Those same OPT later got 8001's at near 600V 110 mA idle per tube and made *MUCH* more power. HY69 amp is now getting refitted for 6JG6 horizontal output tubes.

For my needs, I prefer a single tube in A class.
Actually my boxes have full ranges speakers with 100dB sensibility.
2W is a lot of power in my case.
But I will put a switch for change from pentode to triode SE operation.

I was thinking of trying it as a treble amp driving a TAD-2002,
so don't need much power, but do need some power.

My interest in the HY69 was,
I thought it could maybe work as a poor man's 10Y/801A
in triode, but I may just be dreaming .....

You've guessed right. I tried it up to 50% U-L and quickly found I liked lower percentage better.

My opinion is suspect, but I prefer the sound of triodes.
I made ​​experience with cheap pentodes, in triode mode and the results are amazing. For example, the small 6W6GT plays very well, with a sound that resembles a pure triode as a 45 or 2A3. I will experience in coming months with other cheap tubes.
The Hy69 interested me because this direct heat pentodedo not is a 807, and has a fantastic look.
I hope to get around 4W in triode mode, using an E180F in triode mode or pentode mode as driver.

Would you mind sharing more details about this, I just ordered a quad of 6W6GT from e-bay.

I am really enjoying a 6AV5GA triode strapped as we speak.
