Default 6y6 output tube and Fender Champ(ion)

Hi, all. I wish to seek your advice on the possibility of using a 6Y6 output tube, instead of a 6V6, for my Fender Champ (Silverface from 1975), or the reissue of Fender Champion 600. Is it safe to use 6Y6 in these amps? If it is safe to use it, what are expected changes when 6Y6 is used?
Thank you in advance.

Best regards,

H. U.

please look at these datasheets and you can form your own opinion:

depending on your B+ perhaps you can, but the screen voltage is also low for the 6y6, so i think you need to do a lot of modifications to make it work...

I'd just say no.. The 6Y6 is good for a lot of things, this just isn't one of them.

Hi. Thank you, Tony and kevinkr, for kind advice. I really appreciate it. It seems that I'd better not use 6y6 for the mentioned amps, unless major mods to accommodate the tube are carried out. As I am not unhappy with 6V6s, I will stick to them. I do not want to take the risk of damaging my precious amps. Again, I thank you both for imparting me with your knowledge.

Best regards,

H. U.
