What types of SET rock the hardest?

At 96dB/Watt you'll need seriously big tube. I'd say an 845 too!

You'd be a lot better off with 100dB/Watt about what the Cornwalls make. Klipschorns will rock your world with 4W! Horns have an undeserved bad rep. They just need room to play in; not recommended for a bedroom or even dinky loving room.

845 SE was the fastest most open sound i had. Suited heavy rock really well.

I have an 845SE. At 40 WPC, it does sound nice and rocks the house quite readilly. An 845SE amp needs at least 1000 volts to rock the house, so it is definitely not a project for a first time build. Nor is it a cheap build. I don't use mine much because it dumps about 500 watts worth of heat into the room. That might be OK in northern climates, but here in south Florida, I must run my air conditioner about 350 days a year. That means I spend another 500+ watts to remove that heat.

At 96dB/Watt you'll need seriously big tube. I'd say an 845 too!

I have a pair of Silver Iris open baffle speakers. They are rated for 96 db. With a SSE using KT88's in ultralinear mode I get about 14 WPC. You can hear the bass from Pink Floyd DSOM inside the house across the street!
