Hi!

I prefer the bridge rectifier for its Symmetry. A center tapped secondary can be a bit asymmetric between the halves. But the most important reason is the disturbance the diodes cause in the secondary voltage when switching. This is only caused with choke input filters. This is visible when you put a scope probe across the secondary and compare bridge with FW CT.
So with choke input filters I prefer the bridge arrangement.

The version with a tube rectifier mixed with silicon diodes is for lower budget PSUs. If possible I use all tube bridges

Best regards

Thomas

This is my latest version. Sound make me no complaint, very sweet, thick and dynamic so far. Metal box is used to shield loading choke. So, noise is extremely low, 0.4-0.5mVac.

Replace big plate choke to bigger one, so tube works more current.

Regards,
