i have this reciever in non working condition it is a small radio designed to run direct with no transformer, since it is in bad shape i thought i could use the valves for a project single ended amp but i dont know what the valves are they have no markings, and i cant find any information on the make and model so was wondering if anyone has seen one before.
it seems to have the heaters wired in series, thats about all i know. |

Google "ecko u159".
The valves are designed for a 100mA series heater string, in an AC/DC receiver without a mains transformer. As such they are not really suitable for an audio amp. Better to sell them (or the whole radio) on ebay and use the money for something more appropriate. |

i didnt realise it would be worth the postage, it was given to me when i left a hifi shop i was working at in non working condition, i was going to fix it but since then the knobs got broken in storage so now i dont think its worth the trouble.
i was going to use it for a novelty headphone amp or something running on 9v batteries as it has a 32 ohm opt, but if the results would not be worth maybe i will sell it. |

A valve radio enthusiast may be willing to buy it in its current condition. Do not attempt to modify it, as it is connected straight to the mains - dangerous! In fact, don't attempt to use it at all - old radios need careful restoration (e.g. reforming capacitors). You will notice that there is no exposed metal, this is deliberate as it could be live - 1950's safety rules were not as strict as today.
