Morning everyone,
So felt the need to test some 8150's in P-P. The 8150 was used in RF service for mobile equipment. I got 20 NOS Amperex for 50 cents each. I used 500v on the plate and 200v on G2. According to the datasheet G2 can go to 250v. I set idle current at 35ma/tube. I used a 6600 ohm load. My setup is fairly simple, I feed an MP3 player into an interstage transformer. Well, I am extremely pleased with the results. I can't tell you what the power out is nor can I tell you the distortion level, but what I can tell you is the sound is really, really clean. The bass seems really good too. I turned the MP3 player up as high as it would go. The ammeter was saying I was hitting peaks of 120ma. The sound was really good. So, fed the 8150's with the driver board from a Dynaco Mark III. Real nice. So, at this point specifics are: Plate is 500v, Screen is 235v,
and Grid 1 is -35.8v for a 75ma idle(2 tubes). P2P load is 3.3K. I am using the 8150's with 12v on the filaments. For the tube in the Dynaco driver board, I am using a 7258. The 7258 is a 12v version of the 6AN8. |
