I can't remember the number, but is there not a ~17-18w sweep tube with a large plate cap?

6EX6 or 6CD6 but 22 or 20 Watt
6DQ5 but that's 24 Watt 6DN6 15 Watt

Actually it finally came to me, I have some 8150 compactron transmitting tubes that have the large plate cap. The spec sheet claims they are 35 watts of plate dissipation, buts that's in ICAS, I'll guess by the size of their plate that they are more like 17-18 watts CCS. Guess you know what my next project might be....

I have a bunch of 6DQ6's which match that description. It's an octal version of a 6JM6 (compactron).

Nope, only familiar with EL509/6KG6/PL509/PL519. But that's with a smaller plate cap and higher dissipation, IIRC.

The 6GE6 12GE6 types are of that 17W 'series' but have no top-cap,--maybe a little safer for an audio-amp...
