Wow, that is a classic.

I would spend a decent amount to get a right scope.

The Tek 22xx is analog or digital?

Tek 2246 is analog, traces and measurements are displayed on the CRT, and there is a uC inside that does the housekeeping.

That picture reminds me of my first 'scope.

It was the "Practical Wireless" Purbeck... my first major DIY project.
6Mhz B/W and a 3BP1 radar tube on around 850 volts I think from memory.

Happy days

I am still unclear whether to get the analog or digital scope.

Are there any advantage that the digital scopes have for my application? I do like the fact that digital is more compact.

There are also so-called USB scopes - essentially high-speed ADCs coupled with PC software to do visualization and analysis. I have no experience with any of these, but many seem to like them for relatively low cost and versatility.

A new digital TDS1001B will cost you $1000 from Tek's online store. Two channels, 40MHz, warranty, etc. I'd get it if it was within my budget.

I take it that there is no reason to get a digital scope.

Are there any more suggestions?

A good secondhand Tek or Gould will probably do everything you want. Getting something with all the bells and whistles is probably not as important as learning how to use a basic 'scope as a diagnostic tool...
