Hi-- I run a Rogue Audio Cronus amplifier with Gold Lion re-issue KT77s...One of the KT77s went bad (runaway/redplate)
So I have a bunch of Svetlana "winged-C" EL34s still... I pulled the bad tube, placed an EL34 in its place, did the same to the other channel, and biased em all at 35mA as per the manual. It sounds fine. But....what is the harm here? This can't be ideal...Can it? Would love to hear your thoughts in the interim (I ordered a new matched pair of KT77). |

Kt77's & 6CA7's are essentially the same tube, but if there is any doubt, go with what loren said.
