Default UCC85 and e-pay

Need a UCC85 to complete a restoration I've been working on for a week, and came across this gem on epay

Mullard UCC85 Vintage Valve on eBay (end time 28-Jan-11 22:30:56 GMT)

"Tested all good" ... Can I stop laughing yet?

On a serious note to Toob Noobs ... tubes where the silver "getter flash" on the tube has gone white means the tube no longer has a vacuum... it certainly won't work...

Different heaters , and , as per usual, I have PCC85 and ECC85.... a 10L14 would do

Years ago there were companies who re-built CRT's ... so I suppose it's not out of the question..... and a 300B would be worth more than an A56-540X!!!

Are there any plants left that do this? Used to be 2 or 3 in the UK to my knowledge, going back to the mid-late 80's though ...

Kennetron in East Taunton, MA evidently still rebuilds tubes here in the US.

It looks like Tube Depot still offers new Westrex-made 300B's for $900 per pair, so why bother?
