Hi all - I have a pair of Lumley 120 monoblocks that I have just fitted with an octet of matched KT88 tubes from the USA - I also have Sonus Fabre Signum speakers - an ordered Shanling SCD-T200 and some KUHLTUBE PAIR 396A Western Electric 1973 tubes ordered to go in it when it arrives -
I also have a Mitchel Focus one deck with an SME 3009 MK11 modified tonearm - a new Audio Note M-zero valve pre-amp - now to my problem - I need a valve driven phono amp between the deck and the preamp so I can hear the vinyl playing - there are lots of cheap and nasties out there but with all of the above kit I have obtained over the past ten years I do not want to use them - I can use a soldering iron and many years ago built loads of Elecktor kits - is there something out there that is smallish in size that I can build myself - thank you for reading this - Dewi |

Truly small and using tubes/valves is contradictory. The offerings of Bottlehead Corp. are not grotesque in size and seem to mesh with your skill set.

Aikido phono?
At long last: the Aikido Phono Preamp Needs a little more DIY ... it'll need a box / transformers etc ...

Hi, i have a pair of Lumley m120 monoblocks, can anyone advise me what might be a good pre amp to go with these. They sound fantastic and i do not want to spoil them with the wrong choice pre. Also they have winged C 6550A valves X 8 would a change to quality kt88 be an upgrade.
Thanks all Paul |

hey-Hey!!!,
So you've got an A-N phono and you want something better? The Bottlehead stuff sounds pretty good. "To err is human.. to make a real balls-up requires a computer" Doz, let me suggest you research the R-101, or perhaps Titanic. No computers then... cheers, Douglas
