Default TF110-48/UL in the UK?

Currently contemplating a tube project and wondered if that output transformer was available in the UK? This is my first tube project so I don't know many suppliers and such.

Thanks
Boscoe

By any chance, are you considering building an "El Cheapo" (schematic attached)? That "piece of iron" ceased being a bargain some time ago. Sowter is UK resident and makes a superb, if costly, product. Their model U064 would work for a triode wired setup, as shown in the drawing.

You will have to work the expense numbers for yourself to see if importation from the US makes sense. The "budget" O/P trafo I currently recommend in building an EC is Edcor's model CXPP25-6-7.6K, which is substantial enough for use with UL mode "finals".

Okay nice one thanks but I'm doing a different design to the 'el cheapo'.

A UL mode PP pair of "12" W. tubes, like the 6BQ5, is good for approx. 12 honest W., in combination with a separate phase splitter. Self splitting limits the O/P to 1/2 of yield from a separate splitter. The claim of an 8 W. O/P is VERY ambitious.

Hammond stuff is available in the UK from www.bluebellaudio.com
Edcor will ship to the UK without problem.
Sowter stuff tends to be very pricey, and I had a bad experience once.

Were these formerly supplied as "Danbury" transformers? I used a good few of them before Maplin stopped stocking them.
