Ok, this is new to me; got my stupid project up and running with Electra-print OPT and plate choke on 304tl parafeed amp. Sounds really good, but what's interesting and new to me is when testing it through my regular speakers you can hear the music (Tocatta and Fugue in D; good test) in the plate choke. The amp is in the garage, quite a distance from the speakers and the music is perfectly reproduced, anything above about 3/8 throttle. This didn't happen with the cheapo test choke (wrong value anyway). Any thoughts there before I bother Jack. And no the choke is completely cool to the touch. Thanks Ron Parola

This is not unusual. I routinely test amplifiers with a dummy load. Some OPT's are dead silent, and some talk too much. I have a pair of identical OPT's in my 845SE amp. One makes no noise, the other is plainly audible for frequencies from about 400Hz to several KHz.

I have had Edcor GXSE's sing to me also. MJ talks about this in edition 3. Something about magnetostriction (?) where the lams actually swell and shrink in the presence of the strong magnetic field the windings generate. Not sure what you can do about it.
