I have on of these Chinese amps which sounds really nice. I have removed the input board and relay etc and wired back in the resistors for the heater chain in place of the capacitor and diode to power the input relay. I have also removed the mains switch as I am driving this amp from my Quad 34 pre amp which is supplying the switched power.
The Yarland came with Sovtek EL84 output valves and Chinese 6N3 drivers and I was just wondering if there were better makes/combinations of valves to try in this amp in the opinion of others. I use the Yarland/Quad for classical music driving Linn Bookshelf speakers. Thanks, Kev. |
