Would you long and old timers with years of experience buy and rebuild this?

No, I wouldn't buy it, and yes, if I got ahold of it somehow ('it' being the larger one, the one shown in the very first photo), I would polish it up and rebuild it, if needed. It would make a nice retro-looking instrument amplifier.

I built my first tube project (regererative AM receiver) at 1968.
Can I answer to you question ?
