Hi all - some time back I picked up three old AMI-Rowe jukebox amps. They have pp opts with mutliple output taps.

I want to characterise these opts so I know what hey are capable of BEFORE I build around them.

I am told they are 5.6k primary, and thats about it.

I have signal generators (one Heathkit IG-72, the other a no-name kit solid state device), a two-channel scope, and a brace of DMMs.

At a push, I can justify setting up an old laptop for data acquisition.

I'd like advice on a set-up (diagrams would be good here) and a thorough but not exhausting procedure.

I figure once I know how to do this (and hopefully a few others can learn as well) I can apply this skill to any other strays that come my way...

Thanks all - looking forward to your responses!

You may try this simple setup, tell me if froggy's worlds disturb you.

For 60Hz network, change 314 for 377.

Yves.

Tu meke! (Maori, loosely translates as "Too much!")

Thanks Yves - I had thought you might jump in with some useful advice.

Is there any practical way of testing the opt out of circuit to find its under load characteristics? eg frequency range to -3db, maximum power rating etc?
