My moscode has 3 6dj8's 2 6fq7's and 2 6LU8's,
could someone enlighten me on the function of the 6LU8's. Also is the central 6dj8 the first input tube (where to put the "best" tube). If the 6LU8 isn't in the signal part of the amplifier, could the sound degrade without me hearing microphonics, or do I just gently tap it like other preamp tubes to find out if its out of life. I live in Chicago (land) and there isn't any place that has a tube tester I guess people just replace tubes when they think they're a decade old or so? Thanks Paul |

The 6LU8 are used in the voltage regulators for the small signal tubes.
