New Edcor opt, what would a 150ohm primary be used for?
I saw this on the Edcor new product page, what would you use this transformer for?

Cathode follower output?

here's another one

How about a FET follower?

Could be nice with 4x EL86/6CW5 in parallel SE.

I kinda have a feeling someone paid to have this opt designed, maybe we'll see a project around here. I keep kicking around the idea of paying for a 32ohm opt for headphone use. The design costs are pretty low I'm surprised more people don't pay for custom opts from Edcor.

I do, every chance I get.

Pete, cathode follower output would be a bad idea since a cathode follower output requires the same load as an plate follower output.
Tinitus, the Softone is a "matching" transformer, actually it is not a transformer but an autotransformer, meant for better loading of OTL amplifiers.

I'm a bit surprised that Edcor doesn't state the maximum current rating for the transformer. I see that it's got an Ultralinear screen tap.
Perhaps it is designed for a bunch of little tetrodes or pentodes which are operated in parallel. Puzzling.

I ordered custom OPTs from them, but anyway they added screen grid taps. They were 100W 10K P-P transformers, who would use that taps anyway? Looks like they add ultralinear taps to all OPTs routinely.
