I know this has been covered, but I just went through a bunch of pages of searches and couldn't find my answer.
I'm bored... so messing w/ my amps. Can someone discuss the pro's and con's of adding a low value cap (Teflon) to an existing higher value (PIO) cap? I've got a bunch of soviet .01uf k72 teflon caps. I'm thinking about adding them to various high value pio caps in my amps. Bypass, coupling, power supply.. (I've got more caps and time than I need My thought is that I'd get better high frequencies. I have tried it.. It sounds great.. But, I don't have good test equipment and what "sounds" good to me one day might not the next, etc.. So, I want to know some technical reasons for doing or not doing it. Thanks! |

Yeah, I bought a whole bunch of soviet 0.1uf teflons also and I tried it on my Aikido preamp and Lampizator. The bass sounds better, and it's definently not any worse. I am keeping them and I am adding them to every preamp, DAC I/V build.

I also bypass all large value pio's with USSR teflon or mica as a matter of course-I usually stick, more or less, to the standard advice of 1%.
