Anyone who knows which winding breaks, primary, 12V or HT? It is quite usual even if the 3 I recently found are OK.
Think SY mentinoned something about it long time ago. If it is the primary my idea was to add a tiny 6+6V toroid.

I've found usually that the high voltage secondary shorts in these transformers, but I have only encountered a couple that were that way. I have also encountered one with an open primary. Obviously none of these issues can be worked around and the transformer has to be replaced. Replacements used to be readily available.

I do not know how the smoke came out of mine. I used this one as a replacement. It is made to fit.

Hey,
Was not into finding a replacement. I had hoped it always was the primary. In that case the idea was, as I mentioned, to add a small 6 or 12V toroid while still running the original for HT. Kevin, to bad you found that the secondary normally breaks .
