Tube manufacturer Trivia Question

Who's tubes are these? I'm pretty sure they are East German, but...

Ah, the small plate 12AX7s! They worked quite well in my old Berning preamp prototype. I've gotten identical tubes, and I mean identical. marked Germany, Hungary, Poland, and Holland.

Haven't seen these in quite a few years; the last ones I got were from Radio Shack.

Hey-Hey!!!,
I had some 12AU7 just like that. Labeled Amperex, made in Great Britian. No etched codes though , so I figured caution was in order. Since I have nothing except some Tek 'scoopes that uses the AU7, I gave most ov them away. Nice to know where they came from.

I am almost 100% sure these were maid by RFT in East Germany. Thorsten will know. I have few and they sound terrible.

I'm pretty sure they are not made in Japan (due to the shape pins) Should be either East Germany or Hungary.

its not russian, but it is definitely made in a warsaw pact country.

Thanx guys. RFT and East Germany make sense. I have a set of 12AU7s & EL84s with the same markings that came out of an East German console hifi with RFT speakers, HUGH SE OPTs and an electric fireplace (the later awefully crude).

Yes...and I would use more of them if only I could find them.

It's a manufacturer with a sterling reputation...half a dollar for a E88CC is a steal.

Ultron was a Philips licensee if my info is correct.

AFAIK Ultron wasn´t a manufacturer at all, they just bought tubes from other manufacturers that didn´t pass the quality control and renamed them. That´s the story I´ve heard.

It should be manufactured by Siemens (1970's) For half dollar each, you should buy all of them even they are used! I believe lots of members are interested if you can resell them here.

While you're quite likely correct as far as manufacturing is concerned the Ultrons often were top of the bill.

I certainly never heard anyone complain about QC and even Jean Hiraga said a lot of good things about these.

From looks alone the E88CC in the picture looks as if it's manufactured by Siemens indeed, a good sign I'd say.

Any info on these "Haltron" KT66 wannabees. The nice soul who gave these to me said these are rebranded Russky 6L6’s.

Has any one used them ?
