Hey-Hey!!!,
I had some 12AU7 just like that. Labeled Amperex, made in Great Britian. No etched codes though:eek: , so I figured caution was in order. Since I have nothing except some Tek 'scoopes that uses the AU7, I gave most ov them away. Nice to know where they came from.

AFAIK Ultron wasn´t a manufacturer at all, they just bought tubes from other manufacturers that didn´t pass the quality control and renamed them. That´s the story I´ve heard.

While you're quite likely correct as far as manufacturing is concerned the Ultrons often were top of the bill.

I certainly never heard anyone complain about QC and even Jean Hiraga said a lot of good things about these.

From looks alone the E88CC in the picture looks as if it's manufactured by Siemens indeed, a good sign I'd say.
