Does this transformer work?

Some members here have used this transformer:

--> Edcor XPWR 106 550V(275-0-275)@125mA CT & 6.3V@4A

with the Glass-ware's PS-3 kit.

I think it's a no brainier to get it, correct? I just wanted to make sure that I hadn't missed anything.

Stanley: You'll have to enlighten everyone to the application.......Assuming this is for your Aikido project, what is the required B+ volts & current?

Once you have the B+ and current requirements, work backwards to determine the power transformer needed.

Also consider using a choke in place of R7 on the PS-3 board for lower ripple V/higher performance with the added benefit that you won't be burning power as waste heat with a big R. Using a CLC design also will allow adjusting the B+ voltage a bit by varying the value of the first cap if needed.

It's really easy to use, and very educational. Start by changing the load to constant current and inputting your proposed transformer specs. You can compare a CRC design to a CLC design here easily. For a suitable choke, look at the hammond 159 series. There are plenty of folks here who will walk you through PSUDII if you need some hand-holding.

On the PS-3 documentation, it looks like C15 should be 400V rated, 100V is too low, probably a typo.

One more thing.......you may want to consider continuing your Aikido project on one of your existing Aikido threads instead of starting new threads so that all this info won't be scattered across the countryside..
