Hello,
I decided to build the Tetra Phono Preamp Tetra Phono All-in-One & Broskie Impedance Multiplier . I was looking at the instructions and need to solder filament jumper wires. My question on jumper wires. What gauge wire should I use for the jumper wires? Also, does the material make a difference? Should I leave the sheath on the wire or remove it? Thanks, Justin |

None of that matters a great deal. If you are carrying filament current in a wire, you decide how much voltage drop you can tolerate and make sure its resistance is low enough. Typically, for short runs up to an Ampere, you can use 20 AWG but if you want to be safe you can go a little bigger. Insulation is unimportant as long as there is no danger of shorts. And always use copper unless there is a reason not to.
There is so much mythology in this stuff. Use common sense and you will do fine. No magic. |

Thanks for the information.
It sounds like copper wire at 18 gauge will be all right. I may just leave the insulation, since it should not cause any problems. |
