Default Extra pins on replacement potentiometer for K-12 tube kit?

I was looking for a replacement potentiometer for my K-12 tube kit as I needed a longer rod for the enclosure I'm putting it in when I found this one at radioshack. It is 100K and Stereo just like the one in the kit, and looks identical except it has 2 extra pins on the top. I just want to make sure that these pins aren't necessary and that the potentiometer (which otherwise looks pretty much identical) has the same pinout as the one I'm replacing. I have included a picture, thanks so much for your help:

These are used sometimes for a "loudness" control feature. It is a tap at the halfway point of the conductive track. These taps are not needed for your application and can either be ignored OR you can do as I have done before and just snap them off right at the pcb if clearance is an issue. HTH.

Interesting, I wonder if these taps are found on linear pots only.

Max,

The photo suggests the pots are of two different types, (A and B) log and linear.

Need to make sure your getting the same as what you have.

So does that mean that this pot will not work with the kit? Would there be any trouble with leaving those disconnected and using it like I'd use the other?

I would be more than happy to take mctavish's advice here.

Looking at the RS site this pot appears to be an audio taper log type which is what I think should be used in your K12. My very similar K502 has a log type pot.
