Echocord Super 62 Feedback at Low Levels?
Hello,
I recently got a Dynacord Echocord Super 62. I have been experimenting with the different settings, but I don't have a benchmark to rate what I hear against. I would like to know at which levels I should expect my tape echo to descend into an infinite repeat cycle with feedback taking over the sound.
From my messing around with this echo chamber, the feedback sometimes overwhelms the sound. Below are my summaries of when and what kind of feedback is taking over.
When the ECHO is Adagio:
With the REVERB DURATION set to 8 or higher and the TONE CONTROL is set above 5 feedback takes over. This is the case for echo repeat lengths of 1, 2 or 3. The feedback is a somewhat medium to low pitch, not really piercing.
When the ECHO is Presto:
With the REVERB DURATION set to 6 or higher and the TONE CONTROL is set to anything feedback takes over. This is the case for echo repeat lengths of 1, 2 or 3. The feedback is a high-pitched and can resemble crickets chirping. It can be painful.
So again, what I would like to know is if this is normal for these tape echo chambers. Also, is there anything I can do to reduce the feedback on the Presto setting? I would like to get closer to an infinite repeat on this speed without feedback dominating my sound.
Thanks for any advice!
Seth
