Default What to do with E182CC's

I have a set of E182CC's that I had purchased to build the original Quanghao/Salas Dac but didn't get my boards in time and the new project now uses different tubes.... So, I now have these high end tubes just sitting here and I'm looking for some advise as to what I could build with these babies!

I'd be interested in a high end pre amp or MC phonostage but that's about all I can think of.

If you guys could steer me in the right direction of a project worthy of these lovely tubes it would be greatly appreciated. I project with boards readily available would be a real bonus!

Thanks in advance!

Default E182cc

one of them can make a nice little PP amp giving around 4W..5W power. even with an 6BQ5 PP 8Kp-p output transformer. All then in class AB. needs then only a preamp with a phase shift stage.

As μ = 24, "routine" phono stage service does not appear promising. Perhaps the triode would work well "upstairs" in Allen Wright's hybrid cascode, given its high gm of 15 mA./V. Send AW a PM and see what he thinks.

I think the tube would do just fine as the LTP in a Mullard style PP amp.

Thanks for the reply's.... I should add that I'm OK spending money on other tubes as long as I make use of the E182CC's that I already have and that the end result is something special!

Also I do have quite a bit of experience as a DIY audio builder but I'm a complete Newbie when it comes to tubes so please answer in lay terms as much as possible

Thanks!

Hi,

Those have been used as a phase splitter to drive a bunch of 6C33Cs in an OTL amp.

Or as a WCF as the last stage of a phono pre or gainless line stage perhaps. ...?

Cheers,
