Also, when ordering a kit from glassware should i opt for the metal oxide resistors or the carbon and why ?

The difference will be subtle. I would order the metal oxide, which are generally neutral.
The Carbon resistors will be more "vintage", if you like that sound.

No schematic and it's being sold on the backs of someone else's trademarks. Poor knockoff of (maybe, who knows?) an obsolete and never that great design. Run away.

I am a recently retired nut who needs something to do since you can't really eat Lake Michigan fish--so I don't fish. I am really a novice when it comes to the things you guys do, but I loved to learn. Is 'Tech DIY Company Store' located in Chicago? Are there any electronic hobby clubs in and around Chicago? And what about electronic flea markets? David
