I just picked up an old Hickok tube tester model 530-B. It has a few problems with the switches and their control of the socket pins, but some of the sockets seem fine so far. The worst problem is that one of the things that doesn't work is the top cap lead (as it goes via one of the switches). I may or may not (probably the latter) get brave enough to replace the switches and wiring.
As it has no noval 9 pin socket, I wired a noval->octal adaptor so I could test a bunch of 6CG7's (using the 6SN7 settings). Anyway, that is not the reason for the post. Mainly I want to know if there are any updated characteristic charts available for it. Mine only has the roll chart and a short list taped inside the lid. Being a 1943 machine, yet having a 7 pin mini socket, I had hoped there may be charts of switch settings for later 7 pin tubes. Gary |

Gary,
Send me a PM with a postal address. Not promising anything but I have an old Hickok which I think is the same model and I collected some service and calibration info and I think some additional tube characteristics info - I'll need to wade thru' the pile of collected info. Mine has 1946 "Baccus Marsh Repeater Station" embossed on its case - I think this was one of the original repeater stations for the Ozzie Overland Telegraph system. Cheers, Ian |

Check out these links:
http://bama.edebris.com/manuals/hickok/ http://bama.edebris.com/manuals/hickok/data/ Although the 530B is not listed here, the data may still be relevant, as many Hickok testers used the same circuit. |
