Default ECC84/6N14P for audio

How closely match is this double triodes in a single ECC84/6N14P at audio frequency? Datasheet mention about mismatch in capacitance between both triodes. But in audio frequency, does this matter? I've build a stereo cathode follower using this tube and both channel sounds the same to my ear. There's hardly any audio circuit published on this tube.

Thanks for your answer. In your opinion why this tube is so unpopular to be use as a stereo unit? It is claimed to be low noise and high bandwidth.

ECC84: this tube is a nice one and with good linearity. better than most common ECCxx types. so, why they dont use it? dont know, and its not so easy to find. i tried to get some, but ran into problems

Hi!
How about the ECC804? Is it equivalent to ECC84? I have some ECC804 and i would like to use them for audio. I made some tests, and the sound is good.

Is the Russion made 6N14P a good substitution for ECC84? There are lots of them on sale.

the ECC804 is a quite rare tube. it is ok to use in audio as well. its difficult to get more data than the basics right now. produced was it by Brimar and Telefunken, as i remember.

I mean this one. 6N14P - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

By googling, most of the applications for ECC84 is in FM and SRPP because this tube are design for cascode. But I'm interested to use it as a stereo pair.

Yes the 6N14P is a very close substitute to the ECC84, danzup is confusing it with the 6P14P, which is an EL84 substitute.

I'm currently playing with it, I bought ten of them cheaply on Ebay. It seems to be just fine for audio, with nice characteristics at lowish voltage. Only one thing should be kept in mind: there's a screen between the sections, which is connected to the grid of the section 1. This is intended to be used as a grounded-grid section, as the upper tube in a cascode. For audio, I do not expect any problems with this though.
