Post Need help to under stand this 6n3 Kit from ebay

Hi,

Just purchased the below item out of excitement and I am very new to valve.

http://cgi.ebay.com.sg/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260611175609
Pre-amp Tube Amplifier Kit 6N3 for DIY New

I am planning to purchase a TA2020 board to put together... Need advice from veterans and fellow audio experts to get the best out of this combination. TA 2020 I have not purchased yet.

Suggestions highly appreciated...

Thank you.

If your still interested in this, I have a arjenhelder ta2020, Lepai, and various TA2024 and a TA2050. I just ordered a 6N3 Pre-Amp, how did you like your's?

THanks,
Nicholas G.

Hi,
Yes i did buy two of these from different ebay store.
Used it with Arjen's board and it sounds a lot warmer.

But always curious to know your view.

One of them had a better rated transformer.

Best regards...

Hi, I was going to start a new thread but this could be related to the same kit, so I'll try hear first. I have just bought this 6N3 pre kit:

Tube 6N3 Buffer Audio Preamplifier Pre AMP Kit For DIY on eBay (end time 13-Sep-10 18:06:44 BST)

I think I have everything sorted out but before I start (Famous last words) but I can't figure our which way around the 2 x LEDs should be solered in place. There isn't + or - sign, see pics, 1st one near AC inlet below right in photo.
Click the image to open in full size.

and the one under the valve has a surface mount 1K resistor already fitted to underside of the board.

Click the image to open in full size.

Hope someone can give me a few pointers

Cheers

If you look closely, you can see a faint drawing which shows an arrow pointing in one direction. The cathode of the led(shorter leg) should be connected to where the arrow is pointing.

See here.

Chlorofile, that's fantastic now I see now! Great page link by the way I've saved in my 'idiots' guide favourites folder
