I am considering this OPT to use for experimenting with various SE and PP amp designs . It is advertised as a "universal" for both SE/PP with a wide range of I/O impedance's. Is this suitable for my needs, and will it sound comparable to "dedicated" SE or PP OPT's, or is there another I should be looking at?
Thanks jt |

The 125E is strictly push/pull. Look at Hammond's writeup. For SE, the 125ESE is what you need.
Both the 125 and 125SE series are NOT intended for HIFI service. Considerable derating is necessary to get reasonable bass extension. The 125ESE could be OK with a triode wired 6V6 or a 2A3, as the O/P tube.

Hi !
I sugest the P-T1608A to begin with a El84 PP Ultralinear, And the P-T1627SEA for single ended EL34 , those are intended for HI-FI use ! And the quality is good for the price! GOAHEAD! |
