hi, im pretty new to diy audio but ive done a few electronics pojects before. i want to jump in at the deep end like i do with most things a make a marshall jcm 800 pre amp wacked onto a 200w solid state power amp which i have. only problem is i cant find any complete schematics/point to point wiring diagrams, and after spending the last two days searching the web ive given up. So does anyone have a schematic or even better a walkthrough of how to build a jcm 800 preamp or similar? help will be much appreciated!

I've never heard of a JCM800 Pre-Amp. I have worked on a JCM800 Lead 2203 Guitar amp. 100W PP output.
http://www.schematicheaven.com/marsh..._100w_2203.pdf Could it be the front end of the JCM800 Lead with a SS amp added on? |

Yeah I think the poster wants just the pre-amp but why SS power amp? Not got the samr roar as EL34s! Here's a site for modding said pre-amp, could be really useful to you as you're building it from scratch:
Tales From The Tone Lounge; The Ultimate JCM800? Good luck! I'm hoping to do a guitar amp soon |

thanks alot guys! the reason for the SS power amp is that im on a budget. i plan to build a proper valve power amp some time in the future once i have this running

Have you though of incorporating it in to a head with a Randall power amp? They make explicitly SS gear for the grind factor, Dimebag Darrell used to use one and from what I've heard they're better than the Marshall Mode 4s.. Hell, crank the power in to some inefficient speakers would up the tone (be careful though!).
There's also a thread in the musical instruments forum on how to make an SS guitar amp sounds like it's valve-equipped: http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/music...-tube-amp.html |
