Default My take on a modern ST-70

Something a little different this time. Take a classic design Dynaco ST-70 and bring it up todate with some circuit changes and better parts. Then, throw in a totally new chassis and cabinet.

The layout begins on some aluminum sheet.

I drilled, cut and punched the chassis. Bend the back down for all the inputs and outputs. Then take it over to the local chrome shop for a bright finish.

I used Baltic birch to create a new cabinet design. The metal chassis slides in from the back.

Here is a picture from the back. The rectangle cutout is for the Corcom power module. The inputs are on the outside edges and the outputs are in the middle.

Now a lot of wiring to do. I spend a lot of time working on layout, wire runs and esthetics. It must only sound good, it has to look good too.

Awesome looking job so far! Cabinet idea is a great idea, too

The PCB board in the last picture is your design? What will be electrically different with your version versus the original?

I am delighted to see someone pay the proper attention to output tube ventilation. Nice work! Electrical details would indeed be interesting.

The driver board is the brainchild of Shannon Park. This accounts for most of the real design changes. Most others have to do with different parts dealing with filtering or the ability to roll different tubes.

Here is a detailed page on this build: Wardsweb Dynaco ST-70 Project
