what does a tube sound like when it is at the end of its life. i have a hybrid amp and one channel is crackling and dropping out.

That could be a million things.... Does the amp have any pots in it? Have you tried cleaning them. DeOxit FaderLube is recommended. There are other brands out there that'll do the same thing.
