Default About New Production Tubes

Hi everyone!.
I need some advice, Among new production double triodes, wich brand are generally best considered? I'm talking those high rp , 12.6V filament ones.
I know about the JJ 12AT7 for example, other models of this brand are equally good?
Thanks for your opinions/experience

Their 12AX7A is ok..

New Sensor Electronics makes and sells tube under EH, Sovtek, Mullard, Tungsol brands for some common types. They are all ok.

I prefer NOS industrial in many cases, for example 6021 subs for 12AT7A, 5814 for 12AU7A and are somewhat available on eBay.. 5751 is commonly substituted for the 12AX7A but is not an exact match, mu is 70 as opposed to 100 for the 12AX7A..

If you have an opportunity to find any NOS source for reasonable prices, that should be your 1st choice!!!

Many thanks! It happens that two 12BZ7's , one 12AU7 and one 50C5 NOS in faulty condition, makes me to consider seriously only new production samples, unless you are prepared to spend serious money, and I'm not. For my application I think it is preferable some high rp but medium mu type. A triode strapped signal pentode?

Wow that's really bad luck, maybe someone is selling you defective tubes.
Personally I've only had a problem with a NOS 45, one filament was too close to the grid causing a small red plate area.

Maybe, or maybe when you pick those oldies, you need to buy a bunch, not jut a couple of two, and then select. (or pay a wagon of money for the selected-guaranteed- balanced -matched and the like) Anycase I would like to try the sound quality of the new ones, who knows...

Mosquito,

You said current production, medium μ, and high RP. The EH 12AY7/6072 is a perfect match. The 12AY7 is much like a 12AX7, except it's μ is in the 40s.

BTW, the Sovtek 12AX7LPS (a genuine 7025 equivalent) is more than a match for most of the remaining NOS. This variant is a good tube that would have passed muster in the days of yore.

I've been in love with the 12AX7LPS since it first came out and I got a couple pairs for my PP6V6 amp. Pretty good sounding tube, low noise/hum,and a reasonable price to boot.
