Default Tube rolling in the Triode Electronics 6au6/12au7 driver board

Has anyone else used this board. It lists on the Triode site that you can use
7BK and 7CM base tubes. I recently sent an email to them asking if one could also use the 7BD base tube. They replied with you can use tubes like the
6AU6 with the 7BK base.

The circuit board has a trace between pins 2 and pins 7. This to me would seem to open up the field to ones ability to roll tubes in the 7BK,7CM, and
7BD base.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks,
Joe

I have not seen the Triode board, and they don't seem to publish the schematic. I have a 6AU6 - 6AQ5 amp that I made several years ago, and I have Pete Milletts "engineers amp". They are of a similar design. Both were made for 7BK and 7CM input tubes. I have stuffed 7BD based 6AG5's into both boards with out any ill effects.

I haven't had the time to play with Petes board lately, but I have a long list of tubes that I stuck into my 6AU6 - 6AQ5 amp. Not all of them sounded great, but nothing blew up or malfunctioned. The list includes:

Lots of 7BK's including the 6AU6, 6AH6, 6AK6. The 6BA6 sucks!

Lots of 7CM's 6AS6, 6BH6, 6BJ6, 6CB6, 6EW6 (too much gain) and more

The 7BD's 6AG5, 6AK5, 6AN5, 6BC5 and 6CE5.

The 7EN's 6DT6, 6GX6, 6GY6, and 6HZ6. Didn't sound too great.

The 7EW tetrodes 6CY5, 6EA5, and 6EA5.

The 7GA hexodes 6GU5 and 6FS5. The 6GU5 actually works.

The 7GM triodes 6HA5, 6HK5, 6HM5 and 6HQ5. Component tweaks required.

Send me a PM and I'll send you the schematic on the 6AU6/12AU7 driver board.
