Hi, I see that this transformer is rated at 90ma primary current on some web-sites and 120ma pri current on others. Does anybody know what the saturation current is on these transformers? I have an amp planned that will run about 105ma on the primary and was wondering if this is too much? Anybody have experience with these transformers running at more than 90ma pri current? Thanks in advance... Daniel

Daniel,
I'm running them at 330V/92ma, SV811 A2, and there is plenty of bass, though that's with Visatron B200 open baffle. Not much of a data point I know. The spec' on the James website is 90ma at 20Ws, so my hunch is that 120ma around 300V would be too much. Matt |

I think 120mA is too much.
The factory measurement: For 2.5k load the recommended allowable primary current is 100.2mA (primary inductance 18.74H); 3.5K load is 80.33mA (primary inductance 19.545H), 5K load is 68.15mA (primary inductance 27.38H). Please note that all is measured at 500mV level and at freq 60Hz. So, if you are using 2.5K load, 105mA i think is worth to try since the maximum before saturation is 120mA. |

Do you have a link for those James Data Sheets?
Thanks Matt |

I did the typo in regard to 6123HS. For 2.5K load, the correct primary inductance is 13.74H (not 18.74H) when measured at 100.2mA at 500mV level and freq 60Hz.
I don't have the link just right now. I got this from Euphonia Audio website before they colosed down the business some years ago. I have also some pdf docs for type 6133HS, 6135HS and 6157HS. Let me know if you need them. I ordered a pair of 6135HSF (6135HS with feedback) directly from factory at Taiwan. They also sent me an individual test/ measurement paper altogether with the package. I test the primary inductance with my inductance meter, they are perfectly matched. |

Thanks for the offer. James respond quickly to email, I just never thought of asking them for that data. I'll give them a try at some point.
Thanks, Matt |
