Please accept my apologies 316a. I didn't mean to press any buttons, just to help ICARE.

ICARE, you could take a look at http://tinpan.fortunecity.com/saints...mer/index.html
for inspiration. There are quite a few good ideas there. Also, there's http://www.triodeel.com/schindex.htm where you can find the schematics for quite a few interesting little projects.

For $1000USD you can build some serious audio firepower - but if it's your first 'from scratch' project you might consider something a little less ambitious first, depending on your skills with a soldering iron, etc. There are some really good projects to be found at http://headwize2.powerpill.org/projects/index.htm

I've built the Morgan Jones headphone amp that's to be found there and it's a good sounding little project. You should be able to build one for something like $100 (maybe less if you're a skilled scrounger), depending on the local cost of components. If you're a complete novice to the soldering iron you could try a Chu Moy opamp based headphone amp as a first project - that can be built for maybe $35USD and is a good 'very first' project; the worst that will happen if it's a total disaster is that you're out $35.

All the best,
Morse

No, you may not. The original poster is the one who introduced a budget of $1,000 - not me.

Thanks for all the information.

When I said 1000 dolars, it was a top. I prefer spend around 600 everything include. But I prefer spend a bit more and have a really good sound.
So if someone can give me more ideas and informations, let me know.

Thanks in advance

Hola ICARE,

. Most people's experience with PP revolves around bad Williamson or Mullard circuits, which is only a subset of possible designs
I suppose he is right...that said the only PP i would want to build would be where a transformer is used as a phase splitter. So now you are looking at $$$. I have been pricing the Petit Amity a design published by Lynn Olson http://nutshellhifi.com ...comes to about $1600 (That is for the major parts like tubes, sockets, transformers, no nuts and bolts / switches / chassis)

Whereas a 300b SET based design (DRD) would set you back..say $800.

Cheers,
Bas
