Default UV 203A any good for audio ?

I have found a pair of NOS 203A in next doors shed, $10.00 for the pair if I can use them.

Short question, are they worth ten bucks ?
And can they be used for an audio freq. amplifier ?
Last question, any circuit or design suggestions ?

TIA,
Peter.

What a beast of a tube. Looks nice and linear to.
But however if you have to ask that question of this tube, then its well above your abilities to do anything safely with it. Give it a miss unless you can swap it for something a bit more managable.

Hi Shoog,
Thanks for the reply, I like to build stuff to a design. I have a nice 838 A2 burning away at my sons place. That came from a German design from Jogi's pages. Designing is not my cup of tea, too much maths. I would have been a Heathkit man had they still been around.

Aren't 203A's reasonably similar to 838's?

Plus, they seem to use the same OT in most applications.

The 8005's used in McIntosh MI-200AB are supposedly 203A's with a top cap.

So must be ok for audio.

I'd definitely get 'em.

At $5.00 per piece I grabbed them. Might even send em to the boy and he can check them out.
